Braintree Joint Conservation / Planning Commission of 27 August 2014

Attending: Linda Morse, Megan O’Toole, Joan Richmond-Hall

Meeting convened at 7:15 pm.

Minutes of July were approved.

TRORC grant for the Thayer Brook site: Linda has it very nearly completed. The proposal and budget have been approved by the selectboard. It will be submitted on time. Events will follow though completion in the Spring of 2015.

Gravel pit no new issues yet. PC has discussed it. Everyone is waiting for new information.

Braintree Mountain trail maintenance: Linda will check with Paul Kendall about a work day on Oct: 4/5. We need to get the date in the paper ASAP. Type of work? Tools needed?

Short flyer to ask people to bring water, right clothes, snack. We need to bring first aid. Marking stuff?

Emerald Ash Borer: The Randolph CC and Bethel CC are interested in coordinating efforts and plans. Is it possible to share resources and then create plans that could apply to all towns: different approaches rural vs. town areas. Megan will see if Dave (EAB expert) can give the selectboard a short presentation.

Joan will ask Marlys Eddy if the Green Mountain National Forest is working on EAB. If so, who?

Beth will contact Janny Jacobs to let the Braintree Elementary school know that the Thayer Brook site and the NEFF site are available to the school.

Joan will let the high school folks know.

We will invite them for the trail maintenance day.
