The Town of Braintree has a total of 50+/- miles of traveled highways. Our amazing four-man highway crew works to maintain approximately 42 miles of town roads year-round with about 32 of those miles being gravel roads. The State of Vermont maintains the remaining 8 +/- miles of traveled highway.

Our team of 4 full-time crew members are responsible for grading, ditching, culvert work and replacing signs. During the snowy months they work to plow and sand/salt our roads to help keep the residents of the town safe while traveling in their day-to-day life.

Our Highway team prioritizes the towns school bus routes in the wintertime, making sure that roads are clear and safe for our students’ travels. Other roads and routes are addressed once the bus routes are taken care of while school is in session.
