About Braintree

Braintree is a small rural community in southwestern corner of Orange County in Vermont. The town is largely bordered by State Routes 12 and 12a, and the third branch of the White River and Ayers Brook. Braintree was created by charter in 1781. At the 2020 census, the population of Braintree was 1,209 people. The town has a total area of 38.2 square miles and includes the places of Braintree Center, Braintree Hill, East Braintree, West Braintree, Peth and Snowsville.
